Justice for Iran will be presenting partner at the Human Rights Watch Film Festival in London this year (2020). The Festival will be held from 12th-22nd March at the Barbican, Curzon Soho and Regent Street Cinemas. Justice for Iran will join HRW Film Festival to present two documentaries, Born in Evin and Love Child.
Directed by Iranian-German filmmaker, Maryam Zaree, Born in Evin is one woman’s quest to seek the truth after discovering that she was born in Evin Prison and had spent her first year of her life there. Born in Evin has been internationally acclaimed and has won several awards, including Compass-Perspektive-Award (Berlin) and Best Documentary (Starnberg/Five Lakes Festival).
This screening, including Q&As with the director, will take place on the 14th and 15th of March followed by panel discussions with the director, Human Rights Watch and Justice for Iran.
Love Child follows an Iranian couple who have had a child out of wedlock and therefore have to escape Iran. Seeking asylum in Turkey and stuck in a bureaucratic limbo, they have to live with the uncertainty of being sent back to Iran, where they would be persecuted, or finding a safe haven abroad.
