Justice For Iran: Mansoureh Behkish, one of six finalists shortlisted for this year’s Front Line Defenders Award for Humanity has been summoned by the authorities to Evin prison.
Behkish, a survivor of six executions in her immediate family and a co-founder of Laleh Park and Khavaran mothers’ organisations, is facing pressure to serve her six month term.
IN 2012, following years of harassment, interrogation, detention and threats, she was sentenced to four and half years of imprisonment. During the past week the notorious Judge Salavati at Branch 15 of the Central Revolutionary Court of Iran has been forcing Behkish to begin serving her sentence.
Every year Front Line Defenders presents the Front Line Award for Human Rights Defenders at Risk to one person who has made an outstanding contribution to the cause of human rights. Previous winners of the Award have included human rights defenders from Syria, the Russian Federation, Afghanistan, Guatemala, DRC, Uzbekistan and Sudan. For more information please visit here.
