Human Rights Violations:

As the Law Enforcement Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran (known by the acronym NAJA) Commander in the city of Doroud, Mohammad Malekshahi is responsible for the killing of two people on 1 January following the firing of live ammunition at protesters by police forces under his command.

On 31 December, the IRIB News Agency confirmed that two protesters had been killed in the city of Doroud in the province of Lorestan.

In an interview with news website “Etemad Online” published on 31 December, Hamidreza Kazemi, the member of parliament for the nearby town of Pol-Dokhtar, confirmed NAJA’s shooting at protesters resulting in the killing of two in Doroud. He also stated that “there was no other way for the police than confronting and firing at those who broke the norms and took to the streets”.
